Weight Loss – It’s Just Not Fair!

Those looking for help with their Weight loss learn very early on in their journey that Weight loss really isn’t fair. Want to know why? The read on.

Unfortunately, if you are predisposed to getting fat then you always have been and always will be. Not everybody is. We all know examples of people who are not. They are those friends of ours or family members around us who seem to be able to eat anything they like and not have to worry about Weight loss. In fact, I’m sure by now you’ve already thought of at least one person you know who fits in to this category and can get away with eating whatever they like, whenever they like.

What’s happening with these people is that the insulin in their blood is staying at a moderate level and not increasing with the amount of carbohydrates they eat. As insulin acts like the human growth hormone, but for fat cells, these people are the lucky ones. For the rest of us we need to do battle with this injustice and, simply speaking, just get over it.

Nothing changes the fact that if you want to lose weight or stop yourself from gaining weight you need to avoid the foods that make you fat. These foods are carbohydrates.

The injustice in this situation gets worse unfortunately because for those people who are predisposed to putting on weight through eating carbohydrates these same carbohydrates have an addictive quality. What that means is that for people who suffer at the hands of carbohydrates, the most appealing foods for them are…you guessed it, carbohydrates. That’s why when we are feeling hungry it is the carbohydrate ‘comfort’ foods like potatoes or pasta that we crave the most. They are, after all, the source of fast-release energy that we are longing for when we are hungry. Once again, we just need to accept that if we have a regular craving for carbohydrates we are the most likely contenders to be addicted to them and, in turn, the most likely to be predisposed to gaining fat in the process.

If you think you’ve heard the worse then read on because there’s more to come. If you are one of those people who respond to carbohydrates with an increased production of insulin then the chances are that this process of insulin production will begin even when you begin to think about eating carbohydrates. Scientific tests by the famous French physician Pavlov observed that detectable levels of Insulin are created by the body when the subject was asked to think about their favorite carbohydrate based food. The rate of Insulin production actually increased when subjects were placed in the presence of their favorite carbohydrates such as a steaming bowl of pasta. Insulin levels shot up still further when the subjects were asked to smell the particular dish.

Given what we know about insulin production making you fat it is a sad conclusion of these studies that it is actually possible for you to think yourself fat! The only way around this is to slowly start excluding carbohydrates from your diet. Not as part of a temporary diet to help you lose weight but permanently. The good news is that the longer you go without carbohydrates the easier it becomes to leave your addiction behind and the less sensitive to their effects your insulin production will be.

Leaving carbohydrates out of the diet completely can be done relatively easily with just a little bit of thinking. Eggs and bacon for breakfast always sounded preferable to toast or cereal and now you can choose these options with a clear conscience. Perhaps weight loss isn’t that unfair after all.
